New Board Members Jason Weatherall and Leandro Otero

The addition of both Jason Weatherall and Leandro Otero to the Scholarship Prep Board of Directors is yet another step in the direction of growth for the organization. Both bring exceptional qualifications, expertise, and perspective to the already steady leadership on our Board of Directors. Join us in welcoming them to the Scholarship Prep family and wishing them well as they help guide us on our continued shared journey.

Jason Weatherall: 

Jason Weatherall is a native of Gardena, CA. He attended Westchester High School and graduated from Phineas Banning High School in Wilmington, CA then attended Cal State University, Los Angeles on a track & field scholarship. He received his M.A in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine. A coaching veteran of 15 years, Jason is an ardent advocate for athletics and education. He believes athletics provides for many valuable teaching moments in an individual’s life. He currently resides in Arcadia with his wife Katie and works as an Athletic Director and Physical Education Teacher at St. Philip the Apostle School in Pasadena, CA, and is an Assistant Varsity Boys’ Basketball Coach at St. Francis High School in La Canada, CA.

Leandro Otero: 

Born in Argentina, Leandro and his family immigrated to the US when he was four years old. He grew up and attended schools in both Santa Ana & Irvine. As the first member of his family to attend college, he’s proud to have graduated from both Cal State University of Fullerton (BA) and the University of Pennsylvania (M.S.Ed). Upon graduating, he joined Teach For America and taught high school English and journalism in Philadelphia. He now works as the Managing Director of Talent Partnerships and Onboarding at Teach For America Los Angeles, overseeing the organization's human capital strategy and partnering with over 100 schools in Southern CA.

Leandro and his beautiful family reside in his hometown of Santa Ana, CA. He’s a proud husband and father of two beautiful sons, Isiah and Leo.
